Liverpool fans have taken to social media in reaction to the news Diogo Jota will miss tomorrow’s game against Fulham with a knee injury.
The Reds are still waiting to find out the full extent of the injury after the attacker played 87 minutes of the 1-1 draw against FC Midtjylland on Wednesday.
But the Portuguese international’s absence is undoubtedly a blow for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who already has more than his fair share of injuries to deal with.
Jota has become an immediate fan-favourite at Anfield, scoring nine goals in 17 appearances following his £41million move from Wolverhampton Wanderers in September.
The 24-year-old joins the club’s long list of sidelined players. Kostas Tsimikas, Thiago Alcantara, James Milner and Xherdan Shaqiri are still unavailable, while Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk are going through a rehabilitation process for long-term knee injuries.
The nature of Jota’s injury – after playing the majority of a Champions League group game which Liverpool didn’t need to win – has led some to question Klopp’s decision to play him.
