Bruno Fernandes has explained the story behind his celebrations.
The Manchester United midfielder has been a star since joining from Sporting Lisbon in January.
“This is a long story!“ he told us. ”In Portugal, when I was playing, and I started my second season in Sporting, my daughter was growing up, you know.
“Sometimes, me and my wife, we talk with her and she started doing like this [puts his fingers in his ears] after she started doing this. And so, I picked this to celebrate the goals for her.
“I need to talk with Sky because, every time I did this, it never comes [out] so, all the time, when I call her after the game she tells me – you don’t do it!
“I need to send photos sometimes, look I do it!” he laughed. “You see?
“Now she knows every time I do that for her. In the beginning, she didn’t know but now she knows, every time, it’s for her. Now my wife is pregnant and, every time, my baby asks me now you need to score two times, and, against Brighton, I scored two goals and she tells me: ‘You just scored two but now you need to score three – one for me, one for the baby boy when he comes and one for mum!’
“It will be difficult in the next few years, you know, I’ll need to score more and more. I think it’s better that I score four or five goals in a game and then I can have a rest for two or three games!”
Raul Jimenez is reportedly on his way to Manchester United from Wolves.
Portuguese public service broadcaster RTP claim Jimenez is heading to United with Wolves lining-up a replacement.
Braga striker Paulinho is close to completing a €30million deal to join the Premier League side.
Alexis Sanchez is set to miss out on the knockout stages of the Europa League should Inter Milan make it.
The BBC report that the on-loan Man United forward will be available for Inter’s Round of 16 tie against Getafe in Gelsenkirchen on 5 August.
But as United are also still in the competition, Sanchez’s existing loan deal would see him then return to Old Trafford.
The Chilean is looking to secure a permanent move to Inter but the Seire A giants are yet to reach an agreement with United.
Man United great Gary Pallister has hailed Harry Maguire’s impact at Old Trafford.
“I think he’s terrific,” Pallister said. “I think he’s rightly got the captaincy; he’s one of the talkers.
“He’s not the type of leader that Bryan Robson, Steve Bruce and Roy Keane were, but I think he’s got an assurance about him that the players respond to.
“I think, for his first season, he’s been terrific. He’s comfortable on the ball, you saw it on Sunday [at Leicester City], getting his head to things when the balls are chucked into the box.
“He’s dominant there and he’s exactly the type of centre-back that Manchester United needed.”
Pallister added “[Victor] Lindelof has had a really good season as well. He’s not as dominant as Harry, but I think he’s complimented him.
“He’s got the hang of the Premier League: the physicality and the pace of it. I think he went from strength to strength.”
Man United summer spending won’t end at landing Jadon Sancho.
The Independent report that the England international is United’s major summer target but they also want THREE more new signings.
It is said they are also looking at a centre forward, a midfielder and a centre-half.
These deals will be determined on if sales and budget permit them to land their top targets.
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly willing to agree on an initial fee with Manchester United for Jadon Sancho.
The Independent claim the move is ‘closer’ to completion and while no formal negotiations have been held yet, the principles of the deal are set.
It is said Dortmund will accept an initial £60million with add-ons taking the transfer to over £100m.
The German giants will not entertain a ‘long-running saga’ and are willing to compromise on how the extras will be structured.
Dortmund want Sancho’s future sorted one way or another before their squad return to training on August 10.
The Independent add that Liverpool and Real Madrid have cooled their interest.
Aston Villa star and Man United target Jack Grealish has posted this cryptic tweet on social media amid the growing speculation surrounding his future.
Under-fire Man United goalkeeper David De Gea reportedly banked a huge package deal this season despite his issues on the pitch.
The Sun report the Spaniard collected a whopping £3million from his image rights last year.
De Gea’s image and standing at United are been slightly tarnished due to some below-par performances and heavy criticism.
But the keeper, who is the Premier League’s top earner, is still raking in the cash at Old Trafford.
Man United reportedly have a ‘secret weapon’ in their ongoing negotiations over a deal for Jadon Sancho.
United are eager to sign the England winger but talks are rumbling on with no conclusion in sight yet.
The Manchester Evening News claim the Red Devils might include Tahith Chong in their offer to Dortmund.
United are keen to send Chong out on loan and Dortmund would be a good destination.
Getting a player in return could convince the Germans to fast-track talks and get Sancho’s return to the Premier League over the line.
Alexis Sanchez has allegedly said ‘yes’ to a contract offer to join Inter Milan permanently.
Sanchez has been on loan at the San Siro for the season, and is expected to leave Man United on a full-time basis at the end of the season.
While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly keen on bring Sanchez back to Old Trafford, the Chile forward himself would prefer to move away.
And Gazzetta dello Sport say Sanchez has ‘given willingness’ to accept a three-year offer from Inter worth €7m-a-year.
Manchester United are in crucial talks with Dean Henderson as the Red Devils attempt to tie the goalkeeper down to a new contract.
According to Sky Sports, Henderson is in discussions with United over becoming one of the best paid glovesmen in Europe, following his two excellent seasons on loan at Sheffield United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has even suggested Henderson could go head-to-head with David De Gea to be United’s No.1 next season, though another loan deal at Bramall Lane may also be on the cards.
Chelsea have been linked with a big-money summer swoop for Henderson, also.
Manchester United have reportedly drawn up a list of four centre-back targets for this summer as they look to strengthen ahead of next season.
The Red Devils signed Harry Maguire from Leicester last season in an £80million deal and they are looking for a partner to play alongside him.
The Times report that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants a centre-back, striker and right winger this summer.
Their interest in Jack Grealish has cooled amid reports of Aston Villa putting an £80million price tag on the midfielder and need to strengthen other areas.
The report says among their list of possible defenders is Villarreal’s Pau Torres, who is also wanted by Man City, and Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake.
Ake is likely to leave the Cherries following their relegation to the Championship.
Man United are believed to be in for a £100million windfall following their qualification for next season’s Champions League.
A number of players will also be transfer listed as their overhaul continues.
Chris Smalling is due to return following his loan spell at Roma but the Serie A club are thought to be interested in making that deal permanent.
United will also listen to offers for Phil Jones, Andreas Pereira, Jesse Lingard, Marcos Rojo and Alexis Sanchez.
Despite being linked with the likes of Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho this summer, it seems as though United have a host of players who could leave the club…
Barcelona have shown an interest in Diogo Dalot, reports ESPN. The full-back is behind at least four players in Solskjaer’s order of preference across both sides of the defence and he’ll have to depart to find regular action—as will Phil Jones, who is not in Solskjaer’s plans.
Chris Smalling, however, seems unlikely to now sign permanently with AS Roma, where he has been on loan. The Italian side have not agreed a fee with United for Smalling, say Corriere dello Sport, and they are now looking at other options including Jan Vertonghen, who is on a free transfer.
And Inter Milan want to make Alexis Sanchez a permanent member of their squad, but the Mail have CEO Giuseppe Marotta highlighting the Chilean’s prohibitive wages as being a big problem, suggesting Alexis has a ‘heavy contract’ which ‘must be evaluated’ before any deal is concluded.
Alexis has found form recently in Serie A, so will no doubt be keen on the move.
