Two medical doctors, McDonald Inechi and Kingsley Ugwuonye all from the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hosptial, Enugu have been arraigned before court for reportedly stealing monies donated for the treatment of their colleague who is currently dead.
The Police reported that Ugwuonye and Inechi allegedly stole N700k which was supposed to go to Ozor Stephen, the next of kin of their colleague, Ozor Obinaa by forging the signature of Stephen and diverting the money to themselves.
The Police added that over N1 million donated by doctors for the treatment of the Late Ozor Obinna who was having kidney complications was also diverted.
Ozor Obinna died in Lagos.
The charges read in part
“That you, Dr Inechi McDonald Chikaodo and Dr Ugwuonye O. Kingsley, sometime in the year 2014, at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, New Haven, Enugu, in Enugu North Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit: stealing/forgery, thereby committing an offense punishable under Section 495 (a) of the Criminal Code, Cap 30, Voll.II, Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria, 2004.”
